Maybe not, but there were plenty of Burro’s in the town of Oatman and good riding weather to boot. Not my first trip to Oatman but it’s the kind of place worth revisiting. Hung around for a little bit, took some pictures and continued to Laughlin.

Leaving Borrego Springs through Indio-Palm Desert area; Highway 74 to Lake Hemet is a nice ride that starts off with plenty of twists and turns eventually rising into Ponderosa Pines
Get to the Town of Julian elevation 4,200 feet, quaint town, population about 1500 and a reasonably priced room at the Apple Tree Inn. Upon pulling in I meet Fred and Mike, good guys, the kind of people you meet on the road. Leave the following day for a 400+ mile ride home, had good weather, good company, met good people and after a 1000 miles it felt good to be home.

Borrego Springs is surrounded by Anza-Borrego State Park the population is 3500 and the temperatures range in this desert town from 20 degrees to 122 degrees. Checked into the Palms at Indian Head which apparently was hotspot for movie stars and socialites forty years ago, anyway they had cold beer and good food and now a guy from New York stayed there too.
There was metal sculptures scattered around the desert made by Ricardo A. Breceda, it’s a cool sight to see in the middle of the desert. You can view the sculptures here Welcome To Galleta Meadows

A vast desert landscape, windblown sand everywhere with roads that mimic the landscape, dips, turns and blind hills it’s nice ride with very little traffic. There are 85,000 acres available for off-roaders to explore and in the distance you could hear and see various types of vehicles with their owners having what looked like a lot of fun. Needless to say the E-Glide did not see any off-roading.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is located in Southern California and covers 600,000 acres and is the second largest state park in the United States. The park is part of the Colorado Desert, temperatures are a little warmer than Camp Verde and I look forward to riding some new roads.
