The park is located about 40 miles from Holbrook and is known for petrified wood, fossils and the wonderful display of colors in the Painted Desert. It was a little warm on our visit but cooler than it would have been in Camp Verde since the park is at an elevation of 5400 feet. The road through the park was scenic and overall it was a nice place to visit. After visiting a dozen or so National Parks every one of them I would recommend that you visit at least once if you get the chance.
